Business Valuations
Business Valuations can be used for succession and/or exit planning, estate planning, and establishing partners ownership interest values for use with buy/sell agreements. There are many industry specific ”rules of thumb” or “back of the envelope” calculations that can be done – but that usually results in an inaccurate value of your company and can differ significantly from the value determined by a qualified and credentialed valuation professional.
Credentialed as a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) by the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA), Blue Line can use their expertise to provide valuations of your business. Usually, for privately held companies, the business can represent a significant segment of the owner’s estate or portfolio. And unlike public companies, which shares of value are traded in public and open markets, privately held company’s true worth and values are difficult to ascertain.
Machinery and Equipment Appraisal
Blue Line is certified by the National Environmental Balancing Bureau (NEBB) as a Certified Machinery and Equipment Appraiser (CMEA). Machinery and equipment appraisals are usually provided for lenders who are required to substantiate equipment values to satisfy the U.S. Small Business Administration and Bank Examiners. CPAs may also be required by the IRS to substantiate equipment values to satisfy the Pension Protection Act of 2006 and AICPA Standards of Valuation. Likewise, Attorneys may need to rely on a qualified and certified appraisal when representing a client when equipment is to be divided or allocated.
Business Planning
If you are starting a small business, there is no shortage of advice on the steps you should take: registering your business name, getting a Tax ID, deciding on a business structure, and applying for the needed permits and licenses. While these are all very important steps to take, a business plan will be central to how you start, grow, and develop your business. Business Plans are also sometimes required by lenders for initial borrowings and can provide a roadmap for your success.
